Chelsea suffered a crushing 8-2 aggregate Champions League last-16 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain after the holders won the second leg 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea's already improbable task of overturning a three-goal deficit following their 5-2 loss in Paris was quickly made impossible as PSG scored twice inside the first 14 minutes in west London.
PSG's third in the second half saw Chelsea ship eight goals across the two games - the most they have conceded in a two-legged Champions League knockout tie.
It was little surprise to hear Chelsea booed off at both half-time and full-time, while Blues boss Liam Rosenior saw his second-half triple substitution jeered after he took off Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez.
The damaging defeat deepened late on as defender Trevoh Chalobah was stretchered off, leaving Chelsea to finish the game with 10 men, having made all of their substitutions.
Rosenior said of Chalobah's injury: "I think he was really worried. I've checked with the medical team, we'll scan and assess him tomorrow. We're hoping and praying it's not as bad as we first feared."
A disastrous day for Rosenior saw a Chelsea team leak just hours before kick-off prove correct for the second week running as Jorrel Hato started alongside Chalobah in central defence, which meant Mamadou Sarr was played out of position at right back.
But 20-year-old's deployment at full-back immediately backfired as his mistake allowed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to strike a sixth-minute opener, with Sarr eventually substituted at half-time for Josh Acheampong.
When questioned about Sarr's selection, Rosenior said at his post-match press conference: "Mamadou has played in that position for me and had some great performances against PSG.
"I felt his experience, his feel of the players, would help him. When you're a player and make a mistake that early, it can become a really difficult night for you.
"Malo Gusto was down to start the game and was very ill. We gave him as much time to recover as possible.
"These are decisions you want to make and get correct, and in that moment, Mamadou's made a mistake, which has made it a difficult night because it gave PSG the confidence."
PSG's second came from the other side in the 14th minute as Achraf Hakimi burst down the right to tee up Bradley Barcola, who produced a superb half-volleyed finish into the top corner.
With a five-goal lead, Luis Enrique's side were in total control as the French champions showed why they could well retain their Champions League title, leaving the Chelsea fans frustrated.
And their anger deepened in the second half as PSG substitute Senny Mayulu hit a fine third just two minutes after Rosenior's maligned 60th-minute triple change.
The teenager's goal saw Chelsea fans stream out of Stamford Bridge as their Champions League campaign came to a humiliating end.
But PSG, who exacted revenge for last summer's Club World Cup final defeat to Chelsea, superbly marched into the quarter-finals, where they will face either Liverpool or Galatasaray.
Chelsea held a pre-match huddle in the centre circle ahead of their Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain, though not around the ball as they did in Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Newcastle.
Referee Paul Tierney farcically found himself stuck inside the team's pre-match talk, which was conducted in the dead centre of the pitch on Saturday.
Rosenior has been forced to defend his team's actions, but ahead of kick-off against PSG, the ritual was modified so that it took place slightly off centre and just inside the French side's half.

"They've played over 100 games in 18 months. They've had no break in terms of the international games, the travelling that Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo do to South America. It's not an excuse. This is a by-product of the success of the Club World Cup, and it's a great thing that the club achieved at the Club World Cup. But you're seeing with Reece [James], you're seeing with players that if I don't manage their minutes, their likelihood of getting injured is increased very highly.
"So I want us to make sure we're in this competition next season as a minimum. We're still fighting for an FA Cup. But I have to make maybe really difficult decisions that at the time probably don't look great to be honest. You never want to take off your best players when you're five goals down in a tie, but I want to make the right decisions for the football club in the long term as well."

"Of course, I'm proud. You didn't expect that kind of result. If we think about the first match, the first 80 minutes, we were drawing the match. In the last 10 minutes, we overcame them.
"For us, today, the key was keeping the different moments of playing in that game. If they pressed us we could keep the ball and counter the spaces on the counter-attack.
"We did that and scored two goals. It's always difficult trying to control the match in this part of the competition."
